BRIDGES

A MINISTRY OF HBCWESTMINSTER

Theologian, psychiatrist, and author, Gerald May (2007), said, “To be alive is to be addicted, and to be alive and addicted is to stand in need of grace”

We at Bridges Ministry believe in the gospel of grace. Ephesians 2:8 tells us “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” Just like God offers us the free gifts of grace and faith for our salvation and Christian walk, He also offers us the opportunity to discover recovery and healing through the redemptive power of that very same gospel.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”

If you’ve landed on this page, perhaps you or a loved one has struggled, or maybe are even struggling now, with addiction. May (2007) describes addiction as follows: “...true addictions are compulsive habitual behaviors that eclipse our concern for God and compromise our freedom…” (p. 37). Romans 3:11 tells us that, “...no one seeks for God.” In our fallen, sinful state, we do not naturally desire God. Instead, we have a tendency to replace God with other things. Regarding addiction, this replacement of God can come in many forms. It can be in the form of substance use disorders (alcohol and other drugs). Or, it can come in the form of behaviors such as work, sex, food, pornography, internet/social media, exercise, gambling…the list goes on.

Our Mission

is to promote recovery, healing, and discovery through authentic connection with others and through the redemptive power of the gospel.

Sharing with others about your struggles takes a certain amount of vulnerability – this does not come easily or naturally. There needs to be an environment of trust, safety, and confidentiality – we at Bridges Ministry honor and respect all three. We are very intentional about providing a space that helps people cultivate those three principles.

If you are interested in joining a Bridges group, your first step would be to set up a 15-minute phone call with us to determine whether the group is a good fit for you.  Please give us a call at 720.608.9970 or email us at bridges@hbcwestminster.com to schedule your 15-minute phone call with us.

Or, if you just want to find out more about our groups, please feel free to e-mail us at the address above – we will return your email within 48 hours.
