A HEAVENLY INVITATION

Today at Highland Baptist Church, Pastor Danny Gardner's sermon was from Luke 14:12-24. Jesus describes those who are invited to the banquet, or the kingdom of God. It is every one of us; the spiritually broken. We are the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind that he describes. Not only are we unable to repay God for his goodness, we are not worthy of the grace and mercy God has blessed us with. There is nothing we can offer that doesn't already belong to God. Only through the sinless life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ are we able to accept his invitation to eternal life. But not everyone accepts the invitation. There are many excuses that people use to put off accepting forgiveness or not wanting to believe. There is room for everyone in God's kingdom, but the invitation does expire. Not everyone will end up in heaven. Don't underestimate the importance of what God is offering.
