Today at Highland Baptist Church, our guest speakers sermon was from Revelation 12.
There are three central figures, the woman, the dragon, and the male child. The woman is a symbol of all believers throughout history, who are under attack by the dragon or Satan. The male child is Jesus who reigns over all creation. Believers continue to be persecuted and it will probably get worse. Some will die for their faith.
God never promised that he would protect us from being killed. When believers hold to their faith even in the face of death, it is victory for Jesus and the Church, while it is defeat for Satan.
Christmas is a reminder that we are to bow down and worship Jesus Christ, the only one who can protect us from compromising our faith in a world of chaos, distress, evil, and persecution.
